Keith Powell

Our Director of Operations, Keith Powell, has been with Care First EMS for four years. He started as an operations manager with twelve years prior management experience. Some of that experience was at FedEx, where he managed twenty to thirty employees for five years. He was responsible for the planning, routing, and shipping of multiple lines of freight. At Care First, Keith began with only a three-truck fleet and about ten employees. Through his diligence and the support of the management staff, the company has grown to six trucks and about twenty-five employees. His current focus is on sales and marketing and leading the initiative to grow the company through a continuous effort. Keith is a Chicago native who relocated to Dallas in about 1997. Keith is the father of two children and enjoys spending his spare time with his family.

Jim Smith

Jim Smith began directing Care First EMS in April 2007, through an operations agreement with the business owner. By the end of 2007, Jim had purchased the company and initiated several improvements that he saw as opportunities to improve operational and financial efficiencies. In the coming months and years through Jim’s Leadership, Care First will endeavor to continuously improve its quality of service, add Advanced Life Support and Mobile Intensive Care to its list of available services, and aggressively pursue contracts with health care facilities (for their transport needs) and small towns and counties (for their 911 service needs).

Prior to purchasing Care First, Jim Smith most recently worked for a private equity and business development firm where he contributed to the acquisition decision process and served as the Vice President of Real Estate Development. His professional background is in asset acquisition, investments and management, with extensive experience in researching and analyzing new markets with demonstrated success in identifying high-value business development opportunities. The variety of his experience includes managing groups of independent representatives, closing large-dollar sales opportunities, market expertise in consulting and advising clients on investment opportunities, and managing and operating companies. His ability to build partnerships, manage projects and lead strategic planning initiatives has consistently improved net earnings in the projects he has been affiliated with. Jim earned a B.A. in Economics from Colorado College, and earned an M.B.A. from the Daniels College of Business at Denver University. In his spare time, Jim enjoys many outdoor activities with his wife and two daughters, including skiing, boating, and riding dirt bikes.
